She’s humble, persistent, and grinding to the top. Belcalis Almanzar, 24, from Highbridge, Bx, but grew up in Washington Heights. Cardi B emerged to fame through instagram with her ratchet, funny, and crazy character. At the age of eighteen Belcalis was kicked out of her mother’s house and forced to live with an old boyfriend. “My mom dropped me off, sometimes I wanted to go back but one thing about me when someone says something bad about me or talks down on me I feel like I have to prove them wrong, so it was my pride that kept me from going back” - Vlad tv. Cardi had given up on her dreams, a year later she was fired from her cashier job and introduced to stripping, it took her about two years to get her buzz up. At the age of twenty-one she became an Instagram sensation. Her stage name Camellia was finished at the age of twenty-two and she was brought out on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop New York for seasons six and seven, and she stole the show, her followers increased by seven million from appearances. The streets been buzzing about who’s the hottest chick in the music industry now, well we definitely know she’s the hottest thing coming out of L&HH. Cardi B made her first music video debut “Cheap Ass Weave”, in 2016 she produced her first mixtape “Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1” which featured songs: “Washpoppin”, “On Fleek”, and “Foreva”. Cardi’s next full project was “Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 2” her song “Lick” feat. Offset, “Back It Up” feat. Konshens, and “Pull Up”. You just have to respect Cardi’s grind, in 2017 she signed a multi million deal with Atlantic Records when asked about the deal she simply replies “lookin’ like I caught a lick”. On February 25, 2017 Cardi B opened up for The Lox Filthy America… It’s Beautiful Tour alongside with Lil Kim and Remy Ma (same day Shether was released) when asked how she felt that night she said “none of that energy was towards me so I was good, Kim reached out said she sees my potential it made me feel good, it tells me to keep going” -105.1 interview. Cardi’s recent summer single “Bodak Yellow” just reached number eight on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart, and she’s been featured on several magazines Vibe, Fader, The Source, and Vogue. She continues to learn how to manage her career, her ambitions, and being an inspiration.
