Chedda Da Connect.
Houston maintains its track record for birthing hot rappers with the arrival of Chedda Da
Connect. In 2015 Chedda gave the world a winning hit with “Flicka Da Wrist” that left us wanting
more, and within a year he supplied our demand with two hot mix tapes, a flood of videos and online
appearances, as well as a signature dance that
Despite the constant comparison to other rappers in hip hop's "trap music" genre, Chedda has a
certain diversity that mixes well with the classic Houston swag which delivers an authentic sound that
clearly separate him from other artist. His diversity can be accredited to his positive and negative
upbringing, where on one hand he came from a family strong with love and morale, he graduated
high school and made honest money doing odd jobs in his neighborhood. On the other hand he
indulged in the street life, made money selling dope and went to jail. By rapping to vent the many
rough times he experienced in his home town of North Houston, the combination of good and bad
definitely balances out well in his music as well as a career artist. Chedda collaborates well with other
artist, which can be seen on his track with legend Bun B, Paul wall, and many other hot rappers,
especially on his “Flicka Da Wrist remix”.
At first it appeared that Chedda just got lucky with the success of "Flicka Da Wrist", he made
it clear his success came fast but not overnight. As he told the "Breakfast club" on "POWER 105 fm" in
an interview; "I've been recording my music for years, for my personal use, I planned to drop a big
song... when I did Flicka Da Wrist I said yeah that's it". He even dropped a few mix tapes before the
gold selling success of “ Flicka Da Wrist” and we can’t forget that his grandfather was the lead singer of
the popular soul music band the LeSabres which outlines his prior knowledge of how the music
industry works. Chedda managed to score a gold selling hit, record deal with E One, as well as world
wide fame within 6 months time, when speaking about this in an interview with " Hot 97's Ebro" he
stated "I didn’t put my music out like that before because i was shy, i didn't like criticism". Shyness is
a characteristic that he has outgrown quickly, considering his success. It’s safe to say that it was skill
not luck that got him where he is.
It seems that Chedda Da Connect knows that the key to good business, rather legal business
or in the street, is consistency. So far "Mr. Flicka Da Wrist" has been consistent within the year he
surfaced, and with his library of unreleased music we look forward to seeing what the future holds for
him. With his winning persona, undeniable talent, and obvious passion for music, the future looks
bright indeed. I’m sure that the hip hop world would agree that Chedda Da Connect is one of the
hottest new rappers out, a title that's definitely well deserved.
