Enjoy energetic flows and catchy hooks? A rookie to the game making a tremendous impact goes to none other than New Jersey's own “Fetty Wap.” His music is a smooth mixture of R&B melodies with passionate delivery. From topping the BillBoard charts to selling out shows, Fetty Wap continues to make a following and gains notoriety as he progresses in the game.  

Willie Maxwell, better known as Fetty Wap, was born June 7th 1990. He was brought up in a housing project in Patterson, New Jersey. As a child he developed glaucoma in both eyes and unfortunately physicians could only save one eye. Wap became intreaged and involved in music in 2013. He names some of his influences as, Gucci Mane and Three 6 Mafia’s, Juicy J and Project Pat. Fetty is best known for “Trap Queen,” his 2014 hit single that reached number two on the United States BillBoard Hot 100 in May of 2015. He has also had such achievements as being featured on the XXL 2015 Freshman class as well as being nominated for “Best New Artist” at the BET Awards. Also, in June of 2015 Fetty Wap received the “MC100” award by Music Choice for the most played video for his single, “Trap Queen.” Wap has also released singles, “679” and “My Way,” which became his second top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. 

“Trap Queen” has since become a platinum record and has had over 80 million plays on Soundcloud. Fetty Wap is signed to 300 Entertainment and is the leader of the “Remy Boys.” A self titled album is set to be released this year though has been pushed back due to Fetty Wap continuing to be active in the studio creating new music. in regard to Fetty Wap’s following, the Kansas City Royals baseball team members are actually fining one an other for not dropping Fetty Wap lyrics in their interviews! Many of the players have been on record referencing “1738,” which is a high end remy. Wap has stated that the significance of “1738” in his songs is in regard to him comparing the unique and exquisite qualities of Remy 1738 to himself and the music he produces.  

 

Fetty Wap is a talented, ambitious young artist who is on a roll, dropping hits. Some might even consider his music to be “top shelf.” As both a singer and a rapper, Fetty Wap has the capability and artistry to create bangers! He has as a certain formula that seems to be working for him. With that said, there should be a lot more music from Fetty Wap to come! Keep an ear out and stay tuned…
