Dej Loaf by Mike Gordon in F.E.D.S. Magazine

Looks like the Motor City has got an other one! Rapper and singer, “Dej Loaf,” has been making a break through in the rap game and hip hop community. She is a young and ambitious artist with a new sound to bring to the table. Her 2014 hit single “Try Me” has gained her great popularity among fans and attention from hip hop legends such as Eminem and New York’s, The Lox, who remixed the song on their mixtape "The Trinity.”

Born April 8th 1991 in Detroit, Michigan, Deja Trimble (or her stage name, Dej Loaf) had a passion for music and creating at a young age. Growing up Dej listened to a vast range of music including, Tupac, Rakim, and Miles Davis. As a child she mostly kept to herself, focusing on her school work. At only nine years of age, Dej Loaf was already writing her own songs. Graduating
from high school in 2009, Dej then went on to study at Saginaw Valley State University, majoring in nursing. After three semesters of college Dej decided to leave school and focus all of her time and energies into making a music career.

Since then, Dej Loaf has been honing her skills as a rapper, singer, song writer and all around artist. She first appeared on the scene in 2011, now just recently becoming established as a mainstream act. “Just Do It,” Dej Loaf’s first mixtape was released in February of 2012. Detroit rapper “SAYITAINTTONE" heard her mixtape and soon after signed Dej to his label, “IBGN” (I’ve Been Getting Money) as well as taking her on as an artist to his management team. In July of 2014 her song “Try Me,” produced by DDS, received great consideration from the rap community. There is a memorableness to this song that has compelled many rappers to remix it. Some names include, Lil’ Wayne Ft. Mack Maine, Lil’ Durk, and The Lox.

After the release of “Sell Sole,” Dej’s latest mixtape, she is now rising to new heights. Now apart of Columbia Records, Dej Loaf has been touring along side Nicki Minaj on her “Pink Print Tour.” Dej also has been featured on this years XXL Freshman Class along side rappers, Fetty Wap, GoldLink, K Camp, OG Maco, Raury, Shy Glizzy, Tink, Vince Staples and Kidd Kidd. Dej has also had the opportunity to work along side Eminem, Royce Da 5’9, Big Sean, Danny Brown, and Trick Trick on their recent hit “Detroit Vs. Everybody.”

Given recent collaborations Dej is building connections that can make a career and help to hone her skill. With her unique and catchy sound, listeners have a lot to look forward to. All in all Dej Loaf’s drive and talent certainly measure up to her Motor City roots.
